I make my home in Southern California, in the resort town of Palm Springs. It's really a fine place to live; I quite enjoy our killer summertime heat, and am fascinated by the utter lack of culture. (Our cultural center is named after Bob Hope... see what I mean?) The scene here consists mostly of golf, tennis, swimming pools, Indian casinos, skin cancer, and wealthy senior citizens causing car wrecks. Everything costs a fortune, which keeps away the riff-raff (except me). All you poor snow-bound citizens, c'mon down! You can get a second-degree blistering sunburn in only an hour or so, then go lose a king's ransom at the casino.
I look younger than I am, which is nice. I'm older than I feel, which isn't as nice. I graduated from Princeton in 1973 with a degree in English (I've since changed my name to protect the innocent) then spent years doing everything from running a business on the Red Sea to raising registered Black Angus cows on a farm in Virginia. For several years I authored a column in our local LGBT magazine, then closed it down to devote myself to writing novels. While I make every effort to always be gracious & friendly, I do find it terribly challenging to deal with nitwits, posers, bores, poltroons, vulgarians, or true believers of any persuasion. That said, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe life. Good luck with all your projects, and maybe we'll see each other around the pool! |
